Frequently asked questions

How do I read my salary slip?
A salary slip has two halves. Earnings (basic, HRA, special allowance and others) add up to your gross pay. Deductions (PF, professional tax, income tax and others) come off it. Gross pay minus deductions is your net take-home pay. This tool checks that the slip adds up and explains each part.
Why is PF only ₹1,800 when my basic is higher?
EPF is 12% of basic, but employers may calculate it on a wage ceiling of ₹15,000, which caps it at ₹1,800 a month. That's allowed and gives you a higher take-home, but a smaller retirement corpus.
Is my employer deducting the right amount of tax?
Upload your slip and we multiply this month's TDS by 12 and compare it with your estimated tax under the old and new regime. If the gap is large you may get a refund when you file, or owe more. Bonuses and variable pay aren't on a monthly slip, so treat it as an estimate.
Is my salary slip stored?
No. The PDF is read in memory to pull out the figures and then discarded. Nothing from it is saved.
