What is the current PPF interest rate?
The PPF rate is set by the government every quarter and is 7.1% per annum as of 2026. Interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and last day of each month.
Is PPF maturity taxable?
No. PPF is in the EEE (exempt-exempt-exempt) category: your deposits qualify for Section 80C deduction, the interest is tax-free, and the maturity amount is fully exempt.
What is the maximum PPF deposit per year?
You can deposit up to ₹1.5 lakh per financial year across all your PPF accounts. The minimum is ₹500 a year to keep the account active.
