During Diwali, the stock market remains closed. The BSE and NSE remain open for 60 minutes on Diwali evening as a Muhurat Trading Session (Mahurat Trading). Muhurat trades are done for the coming year. People are typically doing delivery trades on this day in order to have a good trading year. Hindus perform Chopda Pujan on Diwali, and Muhurat Trading is done by them to give a good entry in the stock market for the coming year. Nowadays, Bollywood celebrities ring the BSE bell during Diwali Muhurat Trading.

As the name suggests, Mahurat means "Auspicious Hour," and it refers to trading stocks that are long-term beneficial. Investing with tokens is the best way to do Mahurat Trading. What happens in Muhurat Trading?

A block deal session occurs when two parties agree to buy or sell a security at a fixed price and inform the stock exchange

During the pre-open session (usually eight minutes), the stock exchange determines the equilibrium price.

The normal market session consists of one hour of trading

A call auction is a market where illiquid securities are traded. Securities are considered illiquid if they meet the exchange's criteria.

The closing session is the last opportunity for traders/investors to place a market order
